This blog was created with the hope of sharing our lives with our family and friends who live so far away. We are committed to loving life day by day and sharing it with those we love. We hope this "window" into our lives allows that to happen more easily with those we love.

This is good timing...I was just at a friend's today...they have a 1yr old and we were talking about discipline. It's amazing how many people try to do things according to the ways of the world and not according to His Word. I think the "rod" is very necessary. Sometimes when we're in public that equals my fingers pinching the back of the leg...that's been pretty effective.
My friend was reading a book by a guy name Reb Bradley called "Child Training Tips" which he highly recommended. I'll try to pick it up from half.com and let you know how it is. Maybe you can do a search online for him and find some info from his teaching.
Best advice from me is to be firm and be consistent in discipline. I know it's not always easy :)
Hope this helps!
I think it depends sometimes on the reason for the tantrum. Is she tired? Are you asking too much? (I try to give my kids more grace when I'm dragging them to the 5th store). But I think the more you deal with it at home, the less of an issue it is in public.
Be consistent and don't give in to the pressure of other people watching. :)
Tammy, you asked on my blog about the hungry ghosts. I never heard about it while I lived there, but I would think it would be celebrated by some, because it seems more superstitious than religious. I would ask about it if I were you - could start some interesting conversations.
