A Secret GetAway!
I pulled off a secret getaway for Josh without him knowing about it and it was SO much fun!!! I found out that the Holiday Inn in our city had a $50/ night special for the national holiday - so I seized the opportunity to arrange a babysitter, pre-pack Josh's clothes and personal supplies and arranged to surprise him on our date night. I was dieing all week long - and in my excitement almost spilled the beans two or three separate times. With the help of some great friends though, I purchased the room without a trace of it on our bank card (Josh checks our withdrawals and deposits frequently to keep up on our finances) and arranged for Abby to be well taken care of (another friend stayed overnight at our place). So. . . bottom line was that when we left the house that night to get some coffee on a "date", Josh thought we'd be gone for 2 hours max. When we got to Starbucks, I gave him a little invitation in an envelope. He opened it up and could NOT believe that it was for real. At about that time, my friend (Shannon) arrived with the backpack I had pre-packed with our overnight stuff and away we went for a really relaxing evening, great time together, and a fantastic nights sleep!! Josh slept 10 hours and woke up feeling SO refreshed! He said he can't remember the last time he slept straight through 10 hours. (He is the one who always gets up with Abby at 6am if she's up that early or he gets up at 5:30 so that he can spend time with the Lord before she wakes up). You are probably thinking. . . where are you in this equation? Good question. Josh insists that I need rest because of all the responsibilites I have with my "job" and with being a full time mom, etc. So, he won't let me be the one to get up early in the morning unless he is sick or has an early morning meeting (which is hardly ever). When I have insisted that he sleep in - his body just won't let him do it. He hears Abby calling for him "daddy. . . daddy? . . . daddy!" (these are her first words every morning) and no matter how quiet I try to make the house, even when we've left to play outside, he just can not sleep in or fall back asleep. So. . . where am I in this equation you asked? - usually nestled underneath a quilt, snuggled in my bed, sound asleep! :) So. . . my sweet husband really, really deserved a night away to sleep in and enjoy a little pampering at a great hotel. It was SO much fun to treat him in this way!! And. . . I would definately do it again if and when the opportunity presents itself! :)
